Recycling represents the technique of transforming wasted materials into new products. The idea of recovering raw materials and save energy is something that our children should learn as early as possible. Kids recycle programs have always been constructive for both parents and children as recovering materials is one of the central ideas of any modern waste management system.

One of the most easy to recycle materials is aluminum, and this is why most of the kids recycle projects deal with it first. Aluminum cans are to be found all around big cities, recycling businesses collect and take them to large recycling centers just like nonprofit organizations that clean parks or endangered places from litter. Children should remember that aluminum is a light material that is easy to recycle and that it must always be thrown away to special places.

Another material that endangers the environment is glass, children must remember that glass can’t return back into the nature by an organic cycle, therefore it must be reused. The second lesson in the kids recycle program could be about glass and the way it is recovered and reintegrated in the utility consume system.

Glass is usually transported to the nearest processing facility that uses a large magnet to sort metallic objects first. Other ceramic or nonferrous items are removed manually. Then glass is crushed and mixed together with other elements to create a combination that has the right consistency for melting. It is commonly believed that we live in one gigantic magnetic field, but in fact we live in two, and both are changing at a fast pace, possibly faster than evolution, meaning our bodies cannot keep up with the change of the natural environment that we are designed to live in.

The first of these fields is the earth’s natural magnetic field, generally assumed to be a static field with north at the top of the world and south at the bottom. However, this has not always been the case. The earth’s magnetic field is subjected to geomagnetic reversals which are estimated to occur on average every 250,000 years. This is a natural cycle of time and does not necessarily present any issues as evolution has always coped with this slow change. However, there is a problem. The earth’s magnetic field is fading at an alarming rate, probably faster than at any point in history. Today it is about 10 percent weaker than it was in 1845 when the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss (whose name is now used as a unit of magnetic measurement) started to keep records.

The second field is the earth’s natural electromagnetic field known as the Schumann Resonance. In 1952 Professor W. O. Schumann of the Technical University of Munich proved that the main frequency of the earth’s resonance is 7.83 Hz. This discovery was immediately linked to research that was being carried out on the alpha rhythm of brain waves, which just happened to be about the same as the earth’s resonance. It is not only human brains that have the same frequency as the earth, but all mammalian brains share this common frequency. This phenomenon suggests that the Schumann Resonance is the tuning fork of life.

Any schoolboy will tell you that magnetic fields and electricity are inextricably linked, and our bodies are a mass of bioelectrical activity. Each individual cell is dependent on the electrical resistance of its neighbouring cell and it is this electrical communication combined with the body’s transportation system (blood flow) that controls the efficiency of all cellular functions in the body. An electrical breakdown causes pain, disease, tiredness, etc, etc. Modern medicine relies on this mechanism to provide chemical cocktails that have the ability to change the resistance levels of targeted body cells.

When the first astronauts ventured into space they suffered nausea, dizziness, and vomiting; subsequent flights included a device to produce a pulsed frequency of the Schumann Resonance and the problem disappeared. Volunteer students who lived for four weeks in a bunker hermetically sealed against all magnetic fields suffered physical and emotional disorders, but after only a brief exposure to the Schumann Resonance of 7.83 Hz their health stabilised. Research by E. Jacobi at the University of Duesseldorf showed that one sided use of Schumann wave simulation without the geomagnetic stimulation (the earth’s magnetic field) caused serious health problems. But the bad news is the earth’s frequency is rising (figures suggest the average frequency has jumped to nearly 11 Hz) and science can offer no explanation, but one theory suggests that the continual and growing bombardment of man-made electromagnetic waves around our planet is starting to effect our natural environment.

An F2 tornado touched down just southeast of Harrow over Lake Erie around 3am Sunday morning and traveled east into Leamington where it eventually weakened to F1 strength and dissipated. Additional downbursts from the storm system are responsible for causing additional heavy property damage, according to Environment Canada. The tornado is estimated to have been about 50 feet wide with wind speeds ranging from 180-240km/h in its early stages. Winds were estimated to be 120-170km/h in its late stages. A 40 kilometer path of heavy property damage was recorded by Environment Canada. F1 tornado damaged as also been recorded by EC east of Leamington, along the Lake Erie shoreline. **Environment Canada is now stating that there were two separate tornado touchdowns during the storm, in the Leamington area. Downburst damage caused by the storm was incredibly wide, with a width of about 1 kilometer in diameter. Nearly every large tree along Seacliff Drive from Erie Street in Leamington to Union Avenue in Kingsville was either damaged or completely uprooted. Many trees, hydro poles, and a few structures were also badly damaged near Harrow. No injuries were reported despite all the destruction. When temperatures fall, wallets leak! The leaky drip is your energy dollars flying right out the window or door or roof. If you think you can’t do anything to lower your electric, gas, oil and water bills, take a look at these easy energy saving tips:

Clean Boilers:
When heating system boilers are not kept clean, mineral and combustion deposits build up. The built-up deposits reduce the ability of a natural gas or oil flame to heat your water. The result? It takes much more energy and money for you to get hot water. To make sure you get all the energy you pay for, have the boiler professionally cleaned at least once a year. Shortened run time, also means lower electric bills as the system won’t need to run as long to heat your house.

Drafty Ducts:
If you have a forced air system, examine all the ducts for air leaks at the seams. Leaks in unheated areas, like the attic, basement or crawlspace are especially wasteful. If you find a drafty seam in the duct, fix it by wrapping the seam with high quality duct tape to lower heating bills. The wide metal duct tape is best; it’s a little more expensive than cloth or plastic tape, but it won’t dry out and fall off any ducts during the heating season.

Trickling Toilets:
Toilets are one of the most used and least understood home appliances. They basically have only two moving parts: the flush valve, which lets water out of the tank and down the drain; and the fill valve, which lets the toilet fill up after the flush cycle is complete. Small leaks in these valves can cost thousands of gallons of water per year. Here’s how to tell if your valves are leaking:

Flush Valves:
Open the top of the tank and pour a small amount of food coloring in the water. Close the tank. After an hour, check the toilet bowl. If you see any colored water in the bowl, the flush valve is leaking and should be replaced. Fill Valves:
Open the top of the toilet tank and find the hollow plastic pipe which sticks up from the bottom of the toilet tank. The water level should be about one inch below the top of the pipe. If the water level is even with the top, the fill valve may be leaking or improperly adjusted and should be repaired or replaced. Next, flush the toilet and watch the top of the valve. If any water squirts up, you may have a leaky seal which also means you need a new fill valve.

The good news is flush valves and fill valves are easy to replace and cost less than $10 each. They are available at most hardware stores and home centers. Worn Out Windows:

That’s why tight windows are essential. If you have older windows without storm windows, get storm windows or consider vinyl replacement windows.

Thanks to new technology, installing replacement windows is not the huge construction project it used to be. However, be careful with window contractors. Every year a number of folks wind up paying far too much for poor or average quality windows. Do some research for quality windows, think before you buy, and don’t feel pressured by salesmen who won’t leave before you sign on the dotted line.

Your home loses about 80% of its heat through the attic, about 15% through the walls, and the remaining 5% through the floor. When insulating, be sure to wear a long sleeve shirt, gloves, and pants, and buy a dust mask to protect yourself against inhaling the fiberglass insulation particles.
